Do I need to update my phone before a tournament?
Yes. Before the start of any tournament, update your phone’s operating system to the latest version available. This ensures compatibility with the eTournament Fishing App and prevents performance issues during the event.
Do I need to update the eTournament Fishing App, too?
Yes. If there’s an update available for the app, install it before the competition. Keeping both your phone’s OS and the app up to date provides a smoother experience and minimizes technical disruptions.
Which phones work with the app?
Most Android devices running Android 12 or later, and iPhone XR or newer on iOS 17.4 or later.
How old can my phone be?
For optimal performance, your phone should ideally be no more than five years old from its release date. This can vary depending on the device model and its specifications.
Why can older phones cause problems?
Older phones may face performance issues due to slower processors, less memory and outdated software, which can lead to compatibility problems. These issues can affect your ability to submit results and navigate through the app.
How much does eTournament Fishing cost?
Anglers pay $4.99 a month, $49.99 a year, or $16 for 30 days of access. Tournament directors have free unlimited access.
The app is lagging or slow. What’s going on?
If you experience performance-related issues, such as lag or slow functionality, your mobile carrier might have slower internet in that area. You can also improve performance by restarting your device.
How do I restart to improve performance?
Turn your phone off, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on. After rebooting, log back into the eTournament Fishing App to refresh memory and clear unnecessary cache.
Can I submit a fish with no cell service?
Yes. The app detects a bad-service area, switches to offline mode, and uploads your submission once you're back in coverage.
My submission is stuck on “Being Uploaded.” What should I do?
If your submission is taking longer than expected and stays in “Being Uploaded” status, tap the refresh button (the green circular-arrow icon) at the top-right corner of your screen. This resumes any paused submissions and resolves minor upload delays.
Should I close the app after I submit a fish?
No. After submitting a fish for tournament review, leave the eTournament Fishing App open so the compression and uploading process can complete in a timely fashion.
Why shouldn’t I swipe the app closed?
Swiping the app closed fully shuts it down and interrupts the upload process. Instead, set your phone down and let the screen time out naturally. Letting the app run in the background ensures all submissions and files are efficiently uploaded without interruption.
